Secondly, golf and country club residences are shown where inclusive residential golf packages are available…..with the option of course of venturing out and about during your stay to play any other clubs you fancy.

Old Custom House Hotel, Padstow

Nestling within sight of the open sea at the mouth of the Camel Estuary, Padstow has always been a thriving fishing port and commercial centre for north Cornwall.

Within a fifteen mile radius are some of the finest golf courses in Cornwall, notably the links courses of Trevose and just over the estuary, via road or foot ferry, St Enodoc.  Also close by are Bowood, Newquay, Roserrow and Lanhydrock.  

At the heart of the town and overlooking the medieval harbour is the historical Old Custom House Hotel.  Standing on the quayside, the Hotel is one of the finest buildings in Padstow.  

The hotel has 24 bedrooms.  As it is an old building, each room has a unique view and dimensions.  All rooms are fitted with an ensuite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities and other mod cons such as satellite TV.

The Old Custom House has long been a pub providing a focal point for Padstow fishermen, local people and visitors to enjoy a drink and a bar meal.  Today in the large bar area and the sunny conservatory stylish pub grub is served, washed down with award-winning St Austell Brewery ales and a choice of good wines.

Next door to the Old Custom House is the Pescadou restaurant.  Although part of the hotel, Pescadou provides a different  atmosphere.  It excels in providing contemporary, informal dining with all dishes cooked to order in the open plan kitchen.

Trebarwith Hotel, Newquay 

A highly rated 3 star hotel in the centre of Newquay, the hotel offers its guests a first rate level of amenities and privately available facilities.

Falcon Hotel, Bude

The Falcon is the oldest coaching house in North Cornwall and was once the headquarters for the horse-drawn coaches running between Bideford and Newquay.  Travellers have been welcomed here for nearly two hundred years and that old-time warm, friendly atmosphere is apparent as soon as you walk through the front door.

Just a few minutes away from Bude and North Cornwall Golf Club, overlooking the Bude Canal and with its beautiful walled gardens, the Hotel has one of the finest settings in Cornwall.

All the hotel bedrooms have been refurbished to a very high standard.  All rooms are en-suite, with clock radios, direct dial telephones, coffee and tea making facilities, guest controlled heating systems, and remote controlled colour televisions with Sky.

The Falcon Inn is integral with the hotel, and the Coachman's Bar with its warm and informal atmosphere is the perfect place to relax at the end of your 18 (or 36) holes.  The extensive Bar Menu and the Daily Specials Board are popular and if the weather permits dining al fresco, the front doors of the Falcon Inn lead out onto a floral and spacious beer terrace with views over the historic Bude Canal.

Westberry Hotel, Bodmin

 

The Westberry offers a central venue for a good number of the Cornwall golf courses.  It nestles within the town of Bodmin and is an easy distance from both the North and South Cornish coasts, the renowned Eden Project and many famous National Trust and garden attractions.

The Westberry is 2 star rated and boasts an intimate restaurant with bar, premier dining room and Function suite with bar and Games room with full-size Snooker table and darts.  All of the 21 bedrooms are en-suite, with Sky TV, radio, ironing facilities, telephone, wireless internet access and tea/coffee making 

The attached Steak and Thai Restaurant overlooks the town, serving Oriental and European cuisine.  Alternatively on those warm summer nights it is possible to relax and dine in the secluded garden.

Green Lawns Hotel, Falmouth

The Green Lawns Hotel is a perfect base for golfers playing Falmouth (just around the corner), Perranporth, Truro, Budock Vean, West Cornwall, Tehidy Park and Mullion golf clubs.

Green Lawns is one of Cornwall's privately owned hotels, situated in award winning sub-tropical gardens.  The hotel offers a comprehensive range of luxury accommodation.

Hannafore Point Hotel, Looe

Situated on the south-east coast, the Hannafore Point Hotel is a good base for people playing Looe, Whitsand Bay, St Mellion, Lostwithiel, St. Austell and China Fleet golf clubs on their breaks.

The hotel is a luxurious town-house style hotel with panoramic coastal views from St. Georges Island and on past Rame Head.  

The hotel's Headland Restaurant offers table d'hote and a la carte menus, using fresh, local ingredients including fish bought daily from the fish market.  Guests can relax and enjoy the views from Raffles Lounge Bar or the more lively Island Bar on the ground floor.

There are 37 en-suite bedrooms of which most have sea views and some have balconies.  All bedrooms have tea/coffee making facilities, colour TV, hairdryer and trouser press.

The indoor Leisure Centre has a heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room, spa pool, squash court and gymnasium.  Massage and aromatherapy treatments are available by appointment.

For non-golfers, the Hannafore also organises marine activities which can include instruction in sailing, windsurfing, fishing and scuba diving.

Fairbank Hotel, Crantock Newquay

Perfectly located in a traditional Cornish country village only a mile or two from the bustle of Newquay, with its 12th century church, thatched cottages and surrounding National Trust land, the Fairbank Hotel is ideally situated as a centre for exploring most of the mid-Cornwall golf courses such as Newquay, Perranporth, Trevose, Looe, Lostwithiel, St. Austell, and Truro.

Just a few minutes walk from the hotel is the glorious Crantock Beach. This magnificent expanse of golden sands stretches from the rock pools below West Pentire headland to the tidal estuary of the Gannel, which separates Crantock from Newquay. 

The hotel offers a total of fourteen comfortably furnished en-suite bedrooms, all equipped with LCD digital colour TV, hairdryer, clock radio, and tea/coffee making facilities.  Wireless internet access is available on request in all public areas and the majority of bedrooms.

Most rooms have spectacular views over the Atlantic at Crantock Bay, and the rear-facing rooms have a countryside aspect looking towards Cubert.

The magnificent ocean views are continued from the Pentire Dining Room and Halwyn Bar Lounge with conservatory and raised decking area providing a stunning location where guests can sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery. 

There is also a separate guest lounge, comfortably furnished and equipped with a 37" LCD TV for those 'special' TV moments or sporting action.

Seascape Hotel, Polzeath

The Seascape occupies a commanding position overlooking Polzeath Beach.  It enjoys spectacular views of the Cornish coastline up to the rugged Pentire Headland.

Close by are St.Enodoc and Roserrow golf clubs…..and Trevose, Bowood, Newquay, Lanhydrock courses are not very far away at all.

Accommodation consists of fifteen comfortably furnished rooms, all en-suite, complete with tea/coffee making facilities, television, hairdryer and clock radio. Most rooms have sea views and some have balconies.

Restaurant menu choices are changed daily using local fish, meat and other produce.  Traditional desserts are a real treat.  The restaurant has a view across the bay where often a spectacular sunset can be experienced.

The lounge bar is a gathering point to exchange those “what might have been” golfing stories.

A self-catering option is available at the Seascape.

Opposite the Seascape Hotel is a cottage named the "The Two Martins" which sleeps up to 11 people.  Two minutes walk from shops and beach, it is in a quiet location away from the main road and has magnificent views of Polzeath beach and Pentire Head.

The centrally-heated cottage consists of a large modern kitchen with dishwasher, fridge freezer and microwave and a utility room with laundry facilities.  It has a large dining room, large lounge and conservatory with spectacular sea views.

There are four bedrooms with beds to sleep up to eleven people. Upstairs there is a shower room and toilet whilst downstairs there is a very large bathroom with separate shower.

Chy An Albany Hotel, St Ives

The Chy An Albany Hotel in St Ives is in an ideal location for the West Cornwall golf courses such as Cape Cornwall, West Cornwall, Tehidy Park, Falmouth, Truro and Mullion.

Carlton Hotel, Truro

The Carlton is located less than 10 minutes walk from the centre of the beautiful cathedral City of Truro.

With its central location and easy access to the major roads in the county, the hotel is well-placed for a golfing holiday playing the west and south-west Cornwall courses…..for example Falmouth, Truro, West Cornwall, Tehidy Park and Perranporth golf clubs.

The Carlton Hotel has 29 en-suite rooms ranging from doubles and twins through to single occupancy rooms in a range of styles.  Prices are very reasonable considering the facilities available……a licenses restaurant, free on site car parking and a leisure centre containing a spa-bath/sauna facility for the sole use of hotel guests.

Porth Veor Manor Hotel and Self-catering Apartments, Newquay

Enjoying an elevated position with terraced lawned gardens overlooking Porth Beach this charming mid-19th century Manor is now a well-appointed hotel with the additional option of luxury self-catering villas and apartments.

A major refurbishment programme was completed in 2007 including the addition of an outdoor swimming pool.

Each bedroom is comfortably furnished with usual services plus satellite TV with Sky Sports.

Port William Inn, Trebarwith Strand, nr. Tintagel

 

Located on one of the most scenic stretches of the coastal path, Trebarwith Strand is one of the loveliest, unspoilt little coves in Cornwall.  Magnificently situated half way up the cliff and 50 yards from the sea, there is no other inn in the county with a location to match that of the Port William.

The bedrooms have recently been refurbished and offer every modern amenity, including baths with showers, colour TV's, hairdryers and hospitality trays.  Most bedrooms provide guests with spectacular views during the day and dramatic views of the sunset over the sea in the evening. 

The inn enjoys an excellent local reputation for the quality of its food.  The tables on the outside terrace give guests a chance to enjoy their food and drinks while enjoying the superb views.  The inn is on the famous Cornwall coast path, and ideally situated for walking and fishing.  Tintagel is only a couple of miles away, and the impressive Tintagel Castle is just a walk along the coast path.

Whitsand Bay Hotel, Portwrinkle

Standing proud immediately above the rugged south-east Cornish coastline is the magnificent country house that is the Whitsand Bay Hotel & Golf Club.  An easy 20-minute drive from the busy maritime city of Plymouth, this spectacular venue is steeped in history and tradition.

It is in a great location for golfers playing (obviously!) the hotel course there, plus St Mellion, China Fleet, Looe, Lostwithiel, Launceston and Trethorne golf clubs.

A welcoming family run hotel, the Whitsand Bay offers a wonderful setting to enjoy golf, leisure, fine dining and a retreat which is an absolutely perfect escape from the stresses and strains of everyday life.

The hotel has recently been refurbished to the highest standard.  The luxury 32 bedrooms now boast some of the most comfortable en-suite accommodation with breathtaking sea views.

Contemporary yet classic, the Bay Restaurant is outstanding.  The award-winning head chef has excelled himself with innovative restaurant and lunchtime bistro menus, and a chance to sample his cuisine is another good reason for a visit.

Trethorne Golf and Country Club, Launceston

Set just across the Devon border into Cornwall, Trethorne offers the perfect blend of a picturesque and easily accessible location, friendly and down to earth Cornish hospitality and great value for money.

Trethorne is located midway between north and south coasts, so “away days” to other courses including St Mellion, China Fleet, Launceston and Bude & N. Cornwall are an option as part of your golf break.  Being situated on the main A30 puts courses such as Bowood, Trevose, Roserrow, St Enodoc and Lanhydrock within easy range as well.

Trethorne can cater for residential groups as small as two up to forty or more.  All of Golf Holidays Cornwall’s packages include a 3-course dinner, breakfast and unlimited golf. 

The accommodation is located within 100 yards of the club house and offers very peaceful surroundings for a holiday or short break.  There are seven Clubhouse Rooms, four Lodges and two detached Cottages, sleeping up to a maximum of 70 guests.  All the rooms are a good size offering en-suite bathrooms plus TV and tea/coffee making facilities.

The club is very well known for its friendly and relaxed hospitality, offering good quality home-cooked food in a comfortable and welcoming clubhouse. The large restaurant and outside BBQ terrace make this an ideal location for larger groups and societies.

Lostwithiel Golf and Country Club

The Lostwithiel Hotel, Golf and Country Club is set within extensive grounds in the small town of Lostwithiel, between St. Austell and Bodmin. 

Its mid-Cornwall location makes it an ideal venue from which to play several of the clubs within a twenty mile (and easy drive) radius such as Looe, St Austell, Lanhydrock, Launceston and Trethorne.

The hotel buildings are converted old Cornish Barns, and retain the original charm of the mellowed stone and beamed ceilings.

The hotel offers 3 star accommodation and has a total of 27 rooms available to guests.  Each spacious and individually designed bedroom is furnished with a colour TV, telephone, tea/coffee making facilities and en suite bathroom.

Looking out over the golf course, lakes and wooded hills of the River Fowey Valley, the Black Prince restaurant (named after the first Duke of Cornwall) offers imaginative menus crafted from a range of fresh local produce.  The dining room boasts huge oak timbers, and presents a warm and friendly atmosphere perfect for a pleasant meal after an exacting day out on the course.

The Sports Bar offers a friendly atmosphere and impressive views from its balconies.

Lostwithiel is very close to the pioneering Eden Project, and only minutes away from the enchanting Lost Gardens of Heligan and the historic National Trust site Lanhydrock House.

Activities available at Lostwithiel include an indoor swimming pool, gym, outdoor tennis courts, golf simulator, coarse fishing lakes and horse riding.

Trevose Golf and Country Club

Trevose is one of the most famous Cornish golfing venues.  The course has hosted several top events in recent years, and a lot of money has been invested in course improvements, including lengthening it to over 7000 yards.

Golf Holidays Cornwall has negotiated inclusive golfing packages here, as well as accommodation-only stays playing a variety of courses in the area.  Relatively nearby are St. Enodoc, Newquay, Roserrow, Lanhydrock, Perranporth and Bowood.

The country club consists of a range of accommodation of varying sizes and to suit a variety of budgets.  There are ten luxury Flats, five Bungalows and seven Chalets.

In all the Club can accommodate over 120 guests at any one time.

The focal point of the clubhouse is a well-furnished air conditioned bar which overlooks the putting green and the first and eighteenth fairways, and further out to sea.  The view of the course and Atlantic coastline from the large bay window is spectacular and would be hard to improve on anywhere in the county.

Attached to the clubhouse is a large dining room/restaurant also with stunning views of the Atlantic and Trevose Head. 

Other activities available at Trevose feature snooker, plus a heated outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts.  In addition co-opted into the Golf Shop is an equally well-stocked Boutique. This has ladies clothing of the highest quality and is a serious threat to all credit cards!

St Mellion International Resort

Another well-positioned base for Golf Holidays Cornwall’s customers, after a two-year £20-million refurbishment St Mellion International Resort is now fully re-opened.  St Mellion is a stylish and modern resort with a great golfing heritage.  The multi million pound redevelopment includes a brand new 4 star standard 80 bedroom hotel and extensive refurbishment of the existing clubhouse, and awaits the return of the European Tour from 2011 where it will play host to the English Open. 

Set in 450 acres of stunning Cornish countryside, St Mellion comprises two championship golf courses including the UK’s first Jack Nicklaus designed ‘Signature Course’. This famous resort has previously hosted the Benson & Hedges International Open and most recently the English Seniors Open, firmly securing St Mellion’s position as one of Europe’s premier resorts for both golf and leisure. 

Golf Holidays Cornwall’s customers can stay at St Mellion on an all-inclusive golf pass for the Nicklaus and/or Resort course, or stay on site and travel around, paying a green fee at other courses in the area.  China Fleet, Launceston, Trethorne, Looe and Whitsand Bay are all quite close by and would be a good day out.

China Fleet Golf and Country Club, Saltash

Set in 180 acres of stunning Cornish countryside along the banks of the River Tamar and just ten minutes from Plymouth, as well as its championship-standard golf course China Fleet is also renowned for its range of gym, racquet sport, swimming and health and beauty facilities.

Not far from St Mellion, China Fleet is a good base from which to play the spectacular Nicklaus course as a “treat”.  It is also not far from Whitsand Bay, Looe, Trethorne and Launceston golf clubs for those golfers who may like to make the odd excursion to play somewhere different.

China Fleet resort has a range of self-catering accommodation comprising apartments for up to six people, plus bungalows also for six and with an extra bathroom.  Each unit has free plug in broadband access and there is also wireless internet access in public areas.

The swimming pool is free for Golf Holidays Cornwall guests booking inclusive all-in breaks or holidays.  The pool is set under a glass & timber roof and includes a shallow walk-in beach…..some of the other fun features include water cannon and a large indoor flume, as well as lane swimming.

For après-golf activities, the club also has a brasserie and of course a bar.  In addition, the award-winning Farmhouse restaurant provides more formal surroundings in which to eat.

Bowood Park Hotel and Golf Club, Camelford

Bowood Park is a 31 bedroom 3 star hotel set in 230 acres of breathtaking parkland near Camelford in the north of the county.  Somewhat secluded from the main road, the hotel soon emerges through a manicured driveway with its immaculately maintained golf course surrounding it.

Close by is the rugged North Cornish coastline at Tintagel, Boscastle and the bays around Padstow and Newquay.
